Tea with a stranger in December
Sitting in a cafe in Devon this weekend, I came to talking to a young woman in her early 20s who lives locally having moved from another part of the UK some years ago. She was a gentle soul and we spoke of many things including the desire to live a quiet life, the upcoming general election and what it is to work with penguins. Neither of us have experience with penguins but I was telling her that the last time I spoke to a stranger in this cafe, he turned out to be a vet who rehabilitates penguins in South Africa. It’s amazing what you find out really when you talk to people.
One of my favourite things is talking to new people and this in many ways has been the essence of the hahalala mindset….being open, paying attention and valuing new stories is really quite nourishing. In all honesty, I’m truly troubled by these modern times and the impact on our lives. Yet my own life shows me that whatever we fear and whatever happens in the future, we have to build resilience and community and this is best done by being open to others . Those we know and those we are still to find.
in hope for the hahalala revolution within us all 🙏🏽💖💫
